Since 1969, it has been known in Denmark and later in Northern Germany, such as in the Altes Land, and is extremely popular as a summer apple, which is ready for harvest from late August to mid-September. Its yellow fruits are quite large, medium-firm, and very juicy. The Gravensteiner has poor storage qualities and is therefore not suitable for industrial apple cultivation, but its taste is uniquely good.
