The name Moriz is a reference to Saint Maurice, the patron saint of the small hamlet of Söll, above Tramin. The Cantina Tramin Moriz Pinot Blanc presents a greenish to light yellow color in the glass. It entices with a bouquet of pear, lemon zest, and dried fruit, accompanied by a delicate scent of white flowers. On the palate, the Pinot Bianco is juicy and fresh with good body and an appealing minerality. The finish is subtly spicy and long-lasting. This South Tyrolean wine is a versatile food companion, pairing well with a wide variety of vegetables, fish dishes, poultry, and white meat.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eCantina Tramin – Winemaking\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA mild, low-precipitation winter with plenty of sunshine was followed by a dry March in the 2023 vintage, leading to a relatively early bud break. Although spring was rather cool and rainy, June saw a mix of hot sunny days and rainfall. A hot summer and a rainy start to September demanded a lot of work from the winemakers. Fortunately, the weather gods blessed South Tyrol with a golden autumn and ideal conditions for the grape harvest. Thanks to targeted vineyard work, as well as the experience and care of the cooperative members of Cantina Tramin, the numerous challenges of the 2023 vintage were mastered brilliantly. The white wines of the 2023 vintage, such as this Moriz Pinot Blanc, are cool and delicate, captivating with juicy freshness and crispness.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Pinot Bianco, or Weißburgunder, vines for this Cantina Tramin wine grow on calcareous, gravelly loam soils on hillside locations between 400-600m above sea level. They benefit from the Mediterranean climate during the day and cold downdrafts from the surrounding mountains at night. The grapes were harvested by hand in several passes at the time of optimal physiological ripeness and transported to the winery in small containers. There, they were destemmed and further processed with gentle, long pressing. Fermentation took place at a controlled temperature (19°C) in stainless steel tanks.
