Chardonnay is one of young Fritz Becker's favorite grape varieties. He cultivates it in a purist and cool style, with the fruit remaining in the background, the minerality bringing depth and substance and the ability to ripen perfectly.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eHow Friedrich Becker Wine is Made\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Chardonnay grapes for this estate wine grew in vineyards around Schweigen in the Palatinate, on both German and Alsatian sides, on weathered limestone soil with a loamy-clay top layer. The age of the vines is between 21 and 29 years. The grapes were carefully hand-selected, destemmed, and gently pressed. The controlled fermentation and further aging took place in 228-liter oak barrels made of the finest French and Palatinate oak. The proportion of new barrels was 40%.
