The nose is filled with fruity aromas: Marasca cherry, blueberry, blackcurrant, a hint of blackberry jelly. The wine from Lombardy also brings notes of herbs, spices, black pepper, and a touch of liquorice. The Perla del Garda Terra Lunari, made from 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, is round and soft, with a refreshing acidity and gentle tannins. This Italian red wine pairs well with pizza and pasta with tomato-based sauces, as well as grilled vegetables or meat, and medium-aged cheeses.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003ePerla del Garda – Winemaking\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn Lonato del Garda, on the southern shore of Lake Garda, the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon red grape varieties grow in hilly vineyards on calcareous soils of morainic origin. This velvety organic red wine is produced at an altitude of 150-250m in the Riviera del Garda Classico DOC appellation. In the spurred cordon training system, 5,000 vines per hectare stand close together, forcing them to compete for water and nutrients. The grapes from the approximately 15-year-old vines are harvested by hand in September and October by winemaker Giovanna Prandini and her team.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHarvested by hand into small crates, they are manually selected again at the winery, which is located in the middle of the vineyards, before extensive maceration in the cold room to extract color from their skins. Cooling protects them from oxidative stress and preserves the fruitiness. After gentle whole-bunch pressing, fermentation takes place for 10-15 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at approx. 15 degrees.
