Briosa Gourmet offers exquisite canned fish from Portugal. Briosa Gourmet is a brand of the family-owned company Conservas Portugal Norte, founded in 1912. For more than a hundred years, in the small town of Matosinhos, north of Porto, near the port of Leixões, they have been producing high-quality handmade canned fish with great tradition and extensive experience. Since then, the company has continuously invested in new technologies and is now one of Portugal's oldest, most traditional, yet also most modern canned fish producers.
Matosinhos, with its port, was an important hub for goods of all kinds, especially seafood and fish, even during the Roman occupation. The small town was located on the Via die Cale, a Roman road that led from Porto further north to Braga. Even today, the port is a key economic factor for the city. In addition to numerous industrial companies like the cannery, it also houses Portugal's cult beer producer: the Super Bock Group.
