Les Mouettes d'Arvor – Gonidec Cannery from Concarneau
Les Mouettes d'Arvor is the name given by the Conserverie Gonidec in Concarneau, on the Breton coast of France, to its premium brand of vintage sardines. Conserverie Gonidec was founded in 1959 and is known for the special quality of its canned fish, which are produced using traditional, time-honored methods. The family business is now run by Valérie and Jacques Gonidec, the third generation.
Les Mouettes d'Arvor – Canned Fish from Brittany
Sardines of the best quality, as well as mackerel and tuna, are caught off the coast of Brittany the night before and are salted in a bath of salt water and ice at the cannery the very next morning. Subsequently, the sardines are cleaned by diligent and knowledgeable hands, freed from head and tail, and then dried in a warm oven before being fried in hot oil. Finally, the fried sardines are placed by hand into attractive tins, which feature a new design every year and are highly coveted by collectors, and covered with cold-pressed olive oil, thus preserving them for many years. This is how the finest canned fish has been created for over 60 years: Les Mouettes d'Arvor vintage sardines in limited edition.
