Skin Gin – A Name That Says It All
The idea for Skin Gin, the gin with a dominant mint note, came to founder Martin Birk Jensen in 2014 during his summer holiday in Greece: "It occurred to me that it would be pretty cool if I created my own gin, and while I was swimming in the sea, I quickly had an initial idea of what my gin should be like..."
Barely 8 months later, the native Dane launched the first bottle of his Skin Gin. And because, unlike previously known gins, it didn't have juniper as its main note, but rather Moroccan mint in combination with oranges, pink grapefruit, lemons and limes, as well as a hint of coriander from Vietnam, the mild, fruity, fresh Skin Gin quickly found its fans.
Skin Gin, with its 7 hand-picked botanicals, is distilled near Hamburg in the Altes Land according to traditional methods in a copper still at Arndt Wessel's master distillery. It is therefore a truly handcrafted German gin. The flavour-giving botanicals are individually heated and distilled with spring water and alcohol in a spirit basket to extract almost 100% of their fine essences, which are then combined in Skin Gin.
Skin Gin – Comfortable in its Own Skin
But it's not just the unique taste that makes Skin Gin so special; it's also its design. Skin Gin is available with three classic, permanent bottle designs and in various limited editions, which you can purchase from us.
In a manufactory in Bavaria, the glass bottles are elaborately handcrafted with a "skin" made of high-quality paper with a leather look, which is particularly evident in the Reptile Brown edition. Thus, each bottle is truly unique: Unique, extraordinary, mindblowing – Skin Gin!
"Outwardly we are all different, but inwardly, in our hearts, we are all the same." A beautiful parallel that Skin Gin founder Martin Birk Jensen draws between being human and his gin.
