Battenfeld Spanier - Winery from Hohen-Sülzen
The Battenfeld Spanier winery is located in the Wonnegau region near Worms in the small village of Hohen-Sülzen. In 1991, after completing his viticulture apprenticeship, Hans Oliver Spanier founded an independent winery. Within a very short time, he became a shooting star in Rheinhessen, a pioneer of a new, very puristic style, and Battenfeld-Spanier wines have been organically certified since 1996. Today, the winery is one of the top wineries in the region, and Hans Oliver Spanier is one of Germany's best winemakers.
Battenfeld Spanier - uncompromisingly committed to quality
Battenfeld Spanier wines are uncompromising, shaped by the limestone soils, by the vitality of their soils, which have been cultivated according to biodynamic guidelines since 2007, by consistent yield reduction, spontaneous fermentation, and by the belief that wine will develop if given enough time. The approximately 34 hectares of vineyards in prime locations in Höhen-Sülzen, Mölsheim and Zellertal are 70% planted with Riesling; the rest is shared by Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Silvaner and Chardonnay. The Battenfeld Spanier wines impress with a very slender, cool structure, a spectrum of aromas beyond fleeting fruit aromas, and their saline, origin-specific character.
