MG Destilerias – Le Tribute Gin
MG Destilerias, which has been producing Le Tribute Gin since 2017, is a Spanish family business now in its fifth generation. It was founded in 1835 in Vilanova i la Geltrú, a small fishing village about 50 kilometers west of Barcelona. However, the Giró family initially produced syrup. The first liqueurs were not distilled until 45 years later. In 1923, the first more complex spirits followed. In 1940, Master Distiller Manuel Giró produced the first Spanish gin, distilled according to the traditional London Dry Gin method in copper stills from grain alcohol and hand-picked juniper berries from their own juniper bushes. In 1965, the first Spanish whisky followed. Today, MG Destilerias' product range also includes vodka and rum.
Le Tribute Gin – an homage to the art of distillation
The big international breakthrough came in 2007, when the grandsons Marc and Manuel Giró created the famous Gin Mare, which, like no other gin, reflects the Mediterranean lifestyle and has been part of the GM Destilerias' DNA since its introduction. The simple but ingenious basic recipe with five botanicals (juniper, basil, thyme, rosemary, and Arbequina olive) has been maintained to this day. Since the two managing directors, like their ancestors, are committed to the tradition of distillation, high quality, and continuous innovation, it was only natural to develop another gin in the premium gin brand segment with Le Tribute Gin. In 2017, after two years of development, MG Destilerias launched Le Tribute Gin. It is an homage to the art of distillation and a groundbreaking success. Not least because of its striking appearance, Le Tribute is an iconic spirit that can be found in the trendiest bars worldwide. The successful bottle design, which is reminiscent of the roaring twenties, is now a brand world that also includes a mezcal, as well as tonic water, ginger beer, and ginger ale.
