Introducing: Weingut Wieninger
The Weingut Wieninger and its wine from Vienna stand for quality and tradition. Like no other, winemaker Fritz Wieninger has shaken off the dusty image of easy-drinking Viennese wine and contributed to the high reputation of the Vienna wine region with his quality wines. You're wondering how? Let me tell you the story.
Weingut Wieninger – a story of elegance and finesse
Fritz Wieninger, son of a Heuriger owner, took over his parents' almost 100-year-old winery in the middle of Austria's capital Vienna in the 1980s and successfully developed it into one of Austria's best wineries. His brother Leo, meanwhile, continues to run the Burschenschank, one of Vienna's most popular and best. Fritz has brought the traditional Gemischter Satz back into focus. Imagine, vines of different varieties, colorfully mixed in the vineyard, developing their specific characteristics there. They are harvested and vinified together in the famous Wiener Gemischter Satz. The result? An authentic terroir wine that holds a special fascination for every wine connoisseur.
Biodynamic viticulture – out of respect for nature
Weingut Wieninger practices biodynamic, natural viticulture in Vienna and is a member of the Respekt winemakers' group. Highest quality, respect for nature and sustainability lived for generations are the central values. Fritz Wieninger, with more than 30 years of experience, initiated the rebirth of the Wiener Gemischter Satz at the highest quality level. He is a pioneer, both in his homeland and internationally.
