Cultivation and Processing
Hey, wine lovers! Want to taste something truly special? Then the Wieninger Nussberg Wiener Gemischter Satz Ried Ulm 2023 is exactly what you are looking for.
The grapes for this wine are grown on the famous Ried Ulm on the Nussberg. The soil of the very steep south-facing slope consists of shell limestone with limestone in the subsoil, combined with the microclimate directly by the Danube. All of this gives the wine its unmistakable character.
These vineyards have been farmed according to biodynamic guidelines since 2008. Practicing biodynamic viticulture is a method – and a way of life. Fritz Wieninger views the soil, the plants, and the entire estate as a harmonious whole, a kind of circular economy where everything is interconnected. The biodynamic preparations, which are of natural origin, harmonize all the organisms involved in the process, leading to greater resilience of the vines and higher wine quality.
9 different grape varieties are carefully hand-picked at the same time with varying levels of ripeness, processed together, gently pressed after 3 hours of skin contact using a pneumatic wine press, and fermented in cooled steel tanks (75%) as well as in large, used oak barrels (25%). After almost a year of aging on the fine lees, it was bottled. The result? A wine that impresses with its complexity, structure, and balance.
