Ferdinand's Spirits – Fine Spirits from the Saar
Ferdinand's Spirits, fine spirits from the Saar, was founded in 2013 when Denis and Erik had the idea for a German gin based on Saar Riesling. What makes Ferdinands Gin special are the over 30 finely tuned botanicals, primarily from their own cultivation in the Saar region, combined with the finest Riesling grapes from the famous Saarburger Rausch vineyard of Weingut Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken.
The Royal Prussian Forstmeister Ferdinand Geltz is not only the namesake of the Riesling-infused Saar Dry Gin but also a historic co-founder of the VDP Mosel-Saar-Ruwer. Selectively hand-picked Riesling grapes from the Zilliken winery, grown on the steep slate slopes of the renowned Saarburger Rausch vineyard, make Ferdinands Gin a unique result. The craftsmanship of Master Distiller Andreas Vallendar guarantees a high-quality, aromatic, yet mild gin that stands for the highest drinking pleasure.
Ferdinand's Gin became a complete success, followed by Quince Saar, Quince Gin Liqueur, Ferdinand's Bitter, and the Vermouth series in white, red, and rosé. What unites all products is the world-famous Saar Riesling from the Saarburger Rausch vineyard.
Ferdinand's Spirits – four makers from the Saar
The makers of Ferdinand's Spirits include Dorothee Zilliken, winemaker of the VDP winery Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken, and Master Distiller Andreas Vallendar, as well as their friends, the brothers Denis Reinhardt and Erik Wimmers, who had the idea for this great German collaboration. With their shared passion for high-quality spirits, the four have created unique, handmade products that are aromatic reflections of their home region, the Saar region. Where the Saar meets the Mosel lies one of Germany's most fascinating wine-growing regions, forming the so-called "Dreiländereck" (tri-border region) between Germany, Luxembourg, and France. This is home to the four founders of Ferdinand's.
