Cultivation and Processing

Do you love white wine with character? The 2022 Wieninger Nussberg Grüner Veltliner will awaken your senses. From the sunny slopes of Vienna directly to your home, this wine is the quintessence of Austrian wine tradition.

The grapes for this Viennese regional wine grow on old vines in two vineyards on the famous Nussberg: Ried Serfellner and Ried Weisleiten. The soil consists of shell limestone with limestone bedrock. In the Wiesleiten vineyard, the clay- and iron-rich soil brings darker fruit and spice to the wine.

These vineyards have been managed according to biodynamic principles since 2008. Practicing biodynamic viticulture is a way of life. Fritz Wieninger views the soil, the plants, and the entire estate as a harmonious whole, a type of circular economy where everything is interconnected. The biodynamic preparations, which are of natural origin, harmonize all organisms involved in the process, leading to greater vine resilience and higher wine quality.

Harvested from the best sites of the Nussberg, this Grüner Veltliner benefits from calcareous soils and the local microclimate. Careful hand-picking, 3 hours of skin contact, gentle pressing, and spontaneous fermentation in steel tanks reflect the winery's philosophy. To bring out the unique characteristics of the terroir, a small portion was aged in large wooden barrels.

Wieninger – A Tradition of Excellence

Weingut Wieninger masterfully understands how to express the terroir of Vienna in its wines. Every sip reveals the distinctiveness of the soil, the climate, and the grape variety. The love for nature and wine is reflected in every glass. Fritz Wieninger has been managing his parents' winery for over 30 years and has led it to international success. With a strong commitment to biodynamic practices, Weingut Wieninger produces wines that taste great. This approach helps to preserve the purity and authenticity of every wine.
