Cà dei Frati BROLETTINO Lugana DOC - a white wine to savor

The Brolettino Lugana DOC 2023 from Cà dei Frati is an incredibly powerful, opulent, and creamy white wine from Lake Garda. In the glass, it shines in a rich golden yellow. On the nose, the elegant and hearty Lugana displays balsamic notes, a delicate scent of tea roses and dried herbs, as well as finely integrated woody notes from the barrique. On the palate, juicy apricot, ripe pear, and yellow apple meet rose petals and finely integrated barrique notes, which culminate in a delicate, long-lasting finish. The Brolettino is the older sibling of the Il Frati Lugana; it shows more concentration and aromatic density, and great aging potential.

Brolettino Lugana – the cult wine from Lake Garda

In Sirmione, on the southern shore of Lake Garda, the Brolettino is created, this DOC (Denominazione di origine controllata) Lugana from Azienda Agricola Cá dei Frati, which shows how well Lugana can age. It grows in vineyards close to the lake with pronounced clay soils, calcareous and clayey, providing optimal conditions for the autochthonous Turbiana grape, a Trebbiano variant whose special quality has helped the region achieve DOC status. These are the same sites where the grapes for the Il Frati ripen, but for the Brolettino, they are harvested from the best parcels, especially late, usually not until mid-October, when they are fully ripe and particularly rich in aroma. At the winery, they are then carefully selected again before being gently pressed and slowly fermented at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. The young wine then ages for 10 months in small oak barrels, the so-called barriques, where it also undergoes malolactic fermentation before being bottled and coming to market after another 3 months of bottle aging. This white wine is characterized by an enormous richness of aroma, density, and creamy structure.
