Cartwright & Butler | Biscuits and Fudges
The history of Cartwright & Butler is a family story spanning five generations. Before 1900, sisters Jennie and Kathrine Adam discovered their passion for baking in the small town of Hull in the north of England. Thanks to their talent, their cakes, biscuits, and tarts quickly became popular, and their company, J & K Adam, moved into new and larger premises. However, the two sisters had a third sister who was married to the baker Charles Arnett. Thus, the two bakeries joined forces, utilized their strengths together, and weathered both good and bad times.
Cartwright & Butler | Tins and a Touch of Nostalgia
Today, the company Cartwright & Butler is still managed by the descendants of the Arnett family, who have always been bakers and taken great personal pleasure in good food.
The Arnetts want to bring this joy of quality, of fine baked goods, back to the British tea time table with their classic recipes, and they bought a small company that was known throughout the country for its delicious jams and preserves: Cartwright & Butler!
Since then, much has changed; today, Cartwright & Butler operates internationally. The beautiful tins in which their biscuits are packaged exude a touch of nostalgia and are popular gifts. In addition to fine pastries, the Cartwright & Butler range includes preserves, lemon curd, jams, tea, and fudges...
