Gelber Muskateller Frizzante – Weingut Wohlmuth

The Wohlmuth Gelber Muskateller Frizzante is a fragrant, dry Secco from Styria in Austria. When someone knows as much about Muskateller as the Wohlmuth family in Kitzeck, it makes sense to include a more sparkling, effervescent Frizzante made from the extremely popular grape variety in their range. The Gelber Muskateller Frizzante from Weingut Wohlmuth is a wonderfully floral, enormously juicy summer Secco, with notes of elderflower, ripe tangerine, exotic lychee, and nutmeg. The Wohlmuth Muskateller Frizzante is a multi-faceted summer sparkling wine, fragrant, juicy, well-rounded, and fresh.

Wohlmuth – Wine Production

The Muskateller vines grow in their own vineyards on Paleozoic slate, sandstone, and gravel. Influenced by the Illyrian climate, which brings warm winds from the Mediterranean and cool winds from the northern Alps to Kitzeck in Southern Styria, and with a lot of manual labor on the steep slopes, which requires an admirable attachment to home, this dry white wine Secco with an unmistakable, complex fruit expression is produced.

All grapes are selectively hand-picked. Since the vineyards are located around the winery, long transport routes are not necessary. After a 12-hour maceration period, gentle pressing takes place, followed by slow, temperature-controlled fermentation at approx. 20 degrees Celsius. To preserve the fragrance and freshness, the wine is aged for 6 months on fine lees in stainless steel tanks. It is bottled as Frizzante in March.

The Muskateller grape variety has a long tradition; it is considered one of the oldest cultivated grape varieties with a multitude of variants. Gelber Muskateller is a rather late-ripening variety and finds optimal conditions for its long growing season at Weingut Wohlmuth in Styria. It owes its name to its typically intense Muscat aroma.

The label features a picture by the artist Torben Giehler from Berlin.
