Steitz Blanc de Noir 2024 – a white wine from red grapes

The Steitz Blanc de Noir 2024 is an easy-drinking organic white wine from the Steitz winery, whose home is the small village of Steinbockenheim in Rheinhessen. Made from red Pinot Noir and St. Laurent grapes, Blanc de Noir nevertheless drinks like a white wine and unites its two grape varieties in delicate old rose. With crisp, red berry fruit, it is reminiscent of currants. Floral notes of cherry blossoms are herbaceously contrasted by chervil and sage. The juicy fruit is tartly flanked on the palate by noble bitter notes and a subtle salinity. Along with a grippy texture, these ensure serious drinking pleasure.

The Steitz Blanc de Noir accompanies fish and meat at a barbecue as well as marinated vegetables. With its carefree character, it harmonizes with roasted aromas, fruity dressings or spicy barbecue sauces. And it also accompanies lemon noodles with scampi or poultry strips.

Grown on loess soils and volcanic rock from various vineyards in Rheinhessen, after harvesting and slow fermentation, the wine underwent a long period of lees aging in stainless steel tanks. Thus, the Blanc de Noir Estate wine shows the fruitiness and freshness of its grape varieties. The Steitz winery is a member of Maxime Herkunft Rheinhessen.

Steitz Winery – Children of Rheinhessen

Christian and Diana Steitz have taken on a lot in recent years. In 2015, nine years ago, the two completely took over the winery from Christian's parents. It began with the redesign of the labels and a new homepage. This was followed by major renovations at the winery and in the newly designed guest rooms, but the upheaval went much deeper. Christian Steitz has found his own style, taking increasingly natural approaches to winemaking, experimenting with orange wines and Prädikatsweine. A great development that we have been privileged to witness for more than 15 years. Straightforward, unadulterated and authentic with a clear focus on the essentials - these are wines from the Steitz winery. Since the 2022 vintage, the winery has been organic certified. With the new 2024 vintage, son Finn, the next generation at the Steitz winery, is working on true origin wines from Rheinhessen.
