The Journey of Amos Cuvée White: From Harvest to Bottle

The grapes for the Kellerei Kurtatsch Amos Südtirol DOC 2022 come from selected vineyards around the village of Kurtatsch. The vineyards, best plots in Penon & Graun with significantly reduced yields (40 hl/ha), are located between 600 and 900 meters above sea level and benefit from the optimal conditions offered by the alpine climate with very large temperature differences between day and night and the mineral, porous dolomite soils of South Tyrol. Here, the grapes ripen to their full splendor under the Italian sun and in the clear mountain air of the Dolomites. The grapes from small-parcel vineyards are harvested by hand at the optimal ripeness of each grape variety and quickly brought in small crates to the newly built, impressive winery in Kurtatsch. There, gentle pressing takes place according to the specifications of cellar master Erwin Carli. After fermentation at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks and blending, the wine undergoes subsequent aging on fine lees for 15 months in large oak barrels, which gives the wine complexity and texture.
