The Journey of Pinot Blanc: From Harvest to Bottle

This Pinot Blanc is the result of its Hofstatt location, careful harvesting, and masterful winemaking. At Kellerei Kurtatsch, particular emphasis is placed on environmentally friendly winemaking that preserves the authentic taste of the terroir. The Pinot Blanc vines for this Pinot Blanc from the Terroir line grow on sand and gravel soils with dolomite, quartz, mica, and clay minerals on steep slopes between 500-650 m above sea level. The grapes from small, parcelled vineyards with reduced yields (55hl/ha) are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness and quickly brought in small crates to the newly built, impressive winery in Kurtatsch. There, they were destemmed and gently pressed according to the specifications of cellar master Erwin Carli. After temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel, the subsequent aging and fine lees storage took place in large oak barrels for 9 months. This gives the straightforward single-vineyard wine a smooth texture that rounds off the lively acidity.
