The Kohl Grand Cru Ananasrenette Mountain Apple Juice by Thomas Kohl is a true rarity. Nothing beats direct-pressed apple juice from old apple varieties. That's not entirely true, knows Thomas Kohl, who runs his own cidery in Ritten. The conditions under which the apple grows and is later pressed are also important for the quality of the apple juice.

Ananasrenette – a noble old apple variety

The history of the Ananasrenette: Its traces lead to the 18th or 19th century and to Germany, Belgium, and Holland. One thing is certain: In the penultimate century, there were countless orchards and almost as many apple varieties. Amidst this fierce competition, the Ananasrenette, with its blend of joy and intelligence, managed to prevail and became "Everybody's Darling". Its rapid career also took off in South Tyrol and only experienced a setback a hundred years later, at the beginning of widespread apple production.

On the sunny Ritten, in good air, on the right soil, but above all accompanied by Thomas Kohl's vast experience, the Ananasrenette thrives again. Juicy, spicy in taste, reminiscent of pineapple, with notes of citrus fruits and cassis, this historical apple variety is excellently suited for production as a single-variety mountain apple juice and can thus display its best qualities.

Kohl Grand Cru – naturally cloudy and single-variety

The Kohl Grand Cru Mountain Apple Juice is pressed from the old apple variety Ananasrenette as direct juice. Kohl leaves the juice naturally cloudy and bottles it in magnum bottles. The apple juice is gently pasteurized in the bottle and not filtered. Single-variety mountain apple juice is a specialty of Thomas Kohl, which is particularly evident in the Ananasrenette apple juice: Fine aromas of pineapple and citrus fruits, a touch of blackcurrant. An apple juice from an old apple variety for very special moments.

Serving temperature: 8 - 12°C

Particularly recommended as an aperitif, with asparagus dishes, risotto, cooked or roasted meat.
