Sal de Ibiza – Fleur de Sel in a refill bag – 150g
The Sal de Ibiza Fleur de Sel in a refill bag is harvested in the salt pans located in the island's nature reserve. Fleur de Sel is created through the evaporation process of seawater. Various factors are important here: the sunlight, the wind, and of course the professional skill of the people who harvest the Flor de Sal, as it is called in Spanish. The small, fragile crystals of Fleur de Sel only form with plenty of sun, low humidity, and constant wind. Fortunately, these conditions are quite common in Ibiza, allowing the best salt blossoms to be harvested regularly. The crystals of Fleur de Sel are unique in their texture and taste and contain over 80 minerals and trace elements. It is a pleasantly mild salt. The refill bag is perfect for refilling the popular turquoise Sal de Ibiza stone pot.
Sal de Ibiza – the white gold
For more than 2,700 years, the finest sea salt has been harvested in the salt pans of Ibiza. Even then, salt was highly sought after, as it was needed to preserve food. Ibiza even exported salt to Greece and Italy. In 1235 AD, about 25,000 tons of salt were sold each year; salt was an important economic sector for the island. In 1871, two Mallorcan merchants bought the salt pans for the unimaginably high price of 9.15 million euros (converted). This shows that salt has always been an ambassador for the island of Ibiza.
