Questions about Granito – Sea Salt in a Shaker 125g?

We are happy to help you with Sal de Ibiza.

Granito, pure sea salt in a turquoise shaker

Sal de Ibiza Granito is granular, pure sea salt from the Ses Salines nature reserve – without additives or anti-caking agents, and conveniently packaged in a 125-gram shaker featuring a turquoise island design for the kitchen and table.

The Granito from Sal de Ibiza – German for "little grain" – is granular, pure sea salt from the Ibiza salt flats, completely free of additives and anti-caking agents. To ensure it still pours reliably from the shaker, it is intentionally kept slightly coarser than ordinary table salt – the grain size does what chemistry usually handles.

Granito translates simply to "little grain," and a name could hardly be more honest: there are no promises here other than clean sea salt in a ready-to-pour form. The fact that you don't have to accept anti-caking agents or iodine additives is the true luxury of this unassuming shaker.

Pure, granular, and more intense than table salt

Granito is harvested in the Parque Natural de Ses Salines in the south of Ibiza, where the seawater is of exceptional quality and salt has been produced for over 2,700 years. The salt is not refined, but simply sun-dried and ground – no bleaching agents, no added iodine, no fluorine, no anti-caking agents.

Due to the coarser grain, Granito seasons noticeably more intensely: the crystals dissolve slightly more slowly and release their flavor more precisely. Those switching from refined table salt should start by seasoning cautiously – and will quickly taste the difference.

At the stove, on the table, in the picnic basket

The 125-gram shaker is the perfect size for everyday use: it sits ready to hand next to the stove, moves to the table, and even fits in a picnic basket. Pasta water, salad dressing, scrambled eggs, roasted vegetables – Granito is the workhorse among the island salts, responsible for everything that needs to taste good every day.

And because the turquoise design has long achieved cult status, the shaker itself is a real eye-catcher – salt you don't have to hide. For those who use a lot of salt, the same product is also available in a larger 250-gram shaker, and for the finishing touch on your plate, there is the famous Fleur de Sel in a ceramic jar.

A practical note for everyday use: because the salt contains no anti-caking agents, it doesn't like humid environments – it is better to keep the shaker next to the stove rather than directly over a steaming pot. In return, you can taste what is missing: no bleaching agents, no added iodine, no chemical aftertaste – just clear, honest sea salt seasoning.

From the World Heritage nature reserve to your kitchen

The salt flats where Granito is created have been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999 – a natural paradise of salt basins, flamingos, and shimmering light in the south of the island. Seawater flows through small channels into shallow basins; sun and wind condense it into brine, from which the salt crystals grow: a craft that has barely changed for centuries.

The honest division of labor behind Granito is quickly told: Fleur de Sel shines on the plate, while the shaker does the hard work in the kitchen – both come from the same water. You can find more pure varieties in our pure sea salt category, and the entire assortment at Sal de Ibiza. A quick shake, and Ibiza is part of the seasoning!

If you like, set out two shakers: one for the stove, one for the table – at this price, having a pair is perfectly acceptable. This way, the salt is always within reach, whether cooking or adding a final touch, morning or night.

Reines Inselsalz, mehrfach ausgezeichnet.
