The Brolettino Lugana DOC 2024 from Cà dei Frati is an incredibly powerful, opulent, and creamy white wine from Lake Garda. In the glass, it shines in a rich golden yellow. On the nose, this elegant and savory Lugana shows balsamic notes, a delicate scent of tea roses and dried herbs, as well as finely integrated wood notes from the barrique. Brolettino Lugana – the cult wine from Lake Garda

In Sirmione, on the southern shore of Lake Garda, the Brolettino is produced—this Lugana DOC (Denominazione di origine controllata) from the Azienda Agricola Cá dei Frati, which shows how well Lugana can age. It grows in vineyards near the lake with distinct clay soils, rich in limestone and clay, providing optimal conditions for the indigenous Turbiana grape, a variety of Trebbiano whose exceptional quality helped the region achieve DOC status. These are the same vineyards where the grapes for the Il Frati ripen, but for the Brolettino, they are harvested from the best plots, particularly late—usually not until mid-October—when they are fully ripe and exceptionally aromatic. At the winery, they are carefully selected once more before being gently pressed and slowly fermented in stainless steel tanks under temperature control. The young wine then matures for 10 months in small oak barrels, known as barriques, where it also undergoes malolactic fermentation, before being bottled and released onto the market after a further 3 months of bottle aging. This white wine is characterized by an enormous richness of flavor, density, and a creamy structure.
