Enjoy a Glass: Raumland Sekt Cuvée Katharina
The Sekthaus Raumland Sekt Cuvée Katharina 2019 is a Blanc de Noir Brut Nature, meaning a dry white sparkling wine made from red grapes, bottled with 1.6g/l dosage. First produced in 1993 for the birth of their second daughter Katharina, but because the Chamber of Agriculture would not approve a sparkling wine with the addition of Blanc de Noir, and Volker Raumland did not want to write "white pressed from red grapes" on it, it received the beautiful name of the Raumland daughter. Since then, it has been an indispensable part of the Raumland Sekt range.
The current 2019 vintage spent 36 months on the lees after tirage in May 2020. The Cuvée Katharina is a complex sparkling wine, full-bodied and powerful with good structure and great length. This traditional sparkling wine has aromas of grapefruit and wild berries, notes of brioche and sea salt, and possesses depth. As a Brut Nature dosage, the Cuvée is very puristic, acidic, and taut, yet still has a creaminess and fresh texture.
With its uncomplicated finesse and velvety length, Cuvée Katharina is a good accompaniment to fish, crustaceans, and white meat.

Sekthaus Raumland – Sparkling Wine on Par with Champagne
Sekthaus Raumland from Flörsheim Dalsheim in Rheinhessen produces premium German sparkling wine that stands up to international comparison.
Volker Raumland produces sparkling wine using traditional bottle fermentation, exclusively from his own hand-picked grapes, with a focus on Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder) and Pinot Meunier (Schwarzriesling) from sustainably managed vineyards. The Spätburgunder grapes for this traditional sparkling wine grow on almost 30-year-old vines in the Dalsheimer Bürgel site on calcareous shell limestone soils.
Gentle pressing, 94% of the base wines matured in stainless steel and 6% in barriques, malolactic fermentation, secondary fermentation in the bottle, and long lees aging are prerequisites for this quality, a complex aromatic spectrum, and the special fine perlage of his sparkling wines.
