Raumland Winery Sparkling Wine – Cuvée Marie-Luise Brut
The Sekthaus Raumland Sekt Cuvée Marie-Luise 2018 is a Blanc de Noir Brut, a dry white sparkling wine made from red grapes. It was first produced in 1991 for the birth of their first daughter, Marie-Luise. However, because the agricultural chamber did not permit a sparkling wine with the addition "Blanc de Noir," and Volker Raumland didn't want to write "lightly pressed from red grapes" on the label, it was given the beautiful name of the Raumland daughter. Since then, it has become an indispensable part of the Raumland sparkling wine assortment.
The 2018 sparkling wine year began with a long, wet winter, allowing the soils to store enough water for the record-breaking hot summer. The growing season started already at the end of May with early bud burst. The sunny and dry "century summer" slowed down the ripening process and yielded excellent quality with healthy grape material under perfect harvest conditions in September. Thus, the 2018 sparkling wine year is remembered for very clear, early accessible sparkling wines despite extreme weather and unusual weather patterns. 2018 is the first vintage created together with the second generation at Raumland.
The current 2018 vintage spent 44 months on the lees, from June 2019 to April 2023. The Cuvée Marie-Luise is a fruity sparkling wine, full-bodied and powerful with great substance. The elegant, delicate sparkling wine smells of pear, apricot chutney, and small red berries. With its fine perlage, creaminess, and spiciness, it lingers long on the palate.
The namesake, Marie-Luise Raumland, believes that sparkling wine is not just an occasional drink; sparkling wine is always appropriate. And the Cuvée Marie-Luise, with its uncomplicated finesse and velvety length, is a good food companion for fish and crustaceans, as well as white meat.

Sekthaus Raumland – Sparkling wine on par with Champagne
The Sekthaus Raumland from Flörsheim-Dalsheim in Rheinhessen produces German sparkling wine of the highest class, which need not shy away from international comparison.
Volker Raumland produces sparkling wine using traditional bottle fermentation, exclusively from his own hand-picked grapes, with a focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, from organically managed vineyards. The Pinot Noir grapes for this traditional sparkling wine grow on almost 30-year-old vines in the Dalsheimer Bürgel vineyard on calcareous shell limestone soils.
Gentle pressing, the aging of the base wines in barriques, the completion of malolactic fermentation, the second fermentation in the bottle, and a long period of yeast contact are prerequisites for this quality, a complex aroma spectrum, and the unique fine effervescence of his sparkling wines.
"Good taste is not objective – it is not measurable. It has taken many years of patience and countless attempts to gradually approach the great goal: to achieve the optimum from the diversity of our grape varieties, traditional methods, and today's available possibilities. That is our vision, which challenges us anew every day," says Germany's best sparkling wine producer, Volker Raumland.
