Cuvée Marie-Luise Brut – a Raumland sparkling wine with tradition
The Raumland sparkling wine Cuvée Marie-Luise 2019 is a Blanc de Noir Brut, a dry white sparkling wine made from red grapes. First produced in 1991 for the birth of the first daughter Marie-Luise, but because the Chamber of Agriculture would not approve a sparkling wine with the addition of Blanc de Noir, and Volker Raumland did not want to write "lightly pressed from red grapes", it was given the beautiful name of the first-born Raumland daughter. Since then, it has been an indispensable part of the Raumland sparkling wine range.
The new vintage from 2019 was aged on lees for 36 months after the tirage bottling in May 2020. The Cuvée Marie-Luise is a fruity sparkling wine, full-bodied and powerful with a lot of substance. The traditional sparkling wine smells of pear and apricot chutney and small red berries, showing slight notes of brioche with nuts.
The namesake Marie-Luise Raumland believes that sparkling wine is not just for special occasions, sparkling wine is always appropriate, and the Cuvée Marie-Luise, with its uncomplicated finesse and velvety length, is a good accompaniment to fish, crustaceans and white meat.

Raumland – Sparkling Wine Tradition
The Raumland winery from Flörsheim-Dalsheim in Rheinhessen produces first-class German sparkling wine that can stand up to international comparison.
Volker Raumland is the pioneer when it comes to traditional bottle fermentation in Germany. He has done great things for German sparkling wine. Not least, he was instrumental in the collaboration with the VDP in developing the VDP. SEKT.STATUT manifesto. Sekthaus Raumland was the first pure sparkling wine estate to become a member of the VDP. Now the second generation, daughters Marie-Luise and Katharina, are waiting in the wings. Now female power sparkles in the glass.
The grapes for the Raumland sparkling wines of the Tradition line come from organically farmed vineyards, they are 100% hand-picked, followed by gentle whole-bunch pressing, the base wines are not filtered. After selective blending, the bottles are aged for at least 36 months, i.e. three years, according to the Méthode Traditionnelle, meaning the second fermentation takes place on the lees in the bottle. Passion, craftsmanship and dedication best describe these wonderfully sparkling, elegant, nuanced and finely fruity traditional sparkling wines.
The Cuvée Marie Luise focuses on Pinot Noir, from which it is 100% made. The Pinot Noir grapes for this traditional sparkling wine grow on 30-year-old vines in Rheinhessen, in the Dalsheimer Bürgel site with Terra Fusca soils and shell limestone.
Gentle whole-bunch pressing, 100% stainless steel aging of the base wines, malolactic fermentation, second fermentation in the bottle and long lees aging are prerequisites for this quality, a complex aroma spectrum and the special fine perlage of its sparkling wines.
"Good taste is not objective – it is not measurable. It has taken many years of patience and countless attempts to get closer to the big goal step by step: to achieve the optimum from the variety of our grape varieties, the traditional methods and the possibilities available today. That is our vision, which challenges us anew every day," the Raumland family knows exactly.
