Rausch Riesling Kabinett 2021 – Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken
The Zilliken Rausch Riesling Kabinett 2021 is a fruity-sweet Riesling from the VDP.GROSSE LAGE (Grand Cru site) Saarburger Rausch. This finely fruity, juicy and invigorating Saar-Riesling from Weingut Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken is characterized by a lively interplay between fruit and acidity. Delicate aromas of tropical and local fruits, white peach, ripe green apple, mango, and pineapple are carried by an elegant layer of slate smoke. On the palate, it is juicy, with vibrant acidity and discreet herbal notes throughout. But don't be fooled, the full power of the Rausch site is revealed in the quiet richness, deep minerality, and persistent character of this single-vineyard Riesling.

2021 – the vintage on the Saar
Dorothee Zilliken fondly remembers the icy cold winter of the 2021 vintage, which gave nature the opportunity to rest. In the cool spring, vegetation awoke slowly. Fortunately, this meant that the frost at the beginning of April did no damage to the vines, as they had not yet budded. The summer of 2021 was also rather cool, which required a lot of work to create an airy canopy. But this investment in the quality of the grapes paid off. After a beautiful late summer, the harvest began on October 11th in good weather and yielded healthy grapes, so that both "Große Gewächse" (Grand Cru dry wines) and noble sweet wines from great sites could be vinified. The 2021 Saar Rieslings from Weingut Forstmeister Gletz-Zilliken are elegant and classic with the highest degree of finesse and expressiveness.
