Soap gift set by Castelbel – craftsmanship from Portugal

The production of natural soaps has a 300-year-old tradition in Portugal – Castelbel's own history began in 1999, when Aquiles Barros, a respected professor of chemistry and former employee of the Ach Brito soap factory, decided to establish something new and all his own.

Not far from the port city of Porto in northern Portugal lies the small village of Castêlo da Maia – the company's headquarters and namesake, as "Castelbel" means beautiful castle.

At the beginning, Castelbel produced private labels for a New York department store, and later for Galeries Lafayette in Paris. The name Castelbel remained hidden. Since 2006, there has been the Castelbel Ambiente series (Lavender, Rose, Verbena), and the success story took its course. A major contribution to this was made by the wonderful home fragrances in magnificent glass diffusers, which are exported from Portugal all over the world. A year later, the exclusive Portus Cale series followed. With its Portuguese product design, it has found lovers among us, as well as in Dubai, South Africa, and Japan, and it delights museum visitors in the washrooms of the Louvre in Paris.
