Soap Gift Set from Castelbel – Craftsmanship from Portugal

The production of natural soaps has a 300-year-old tradition in Portugal – Castelbel's own story began in 1999, when Aquiles Barros, a respected professor of chemistry and former employee of the Ach Brito soap factory, decided to establish something new and entirely his own.
 
Not far from the port city of Porto in northern Portugal lies the small village of Castêlo da Maia. That is where the company was based, and where it found its name: Castelbel – beautiful castle.

Initially, Castelbel produced private-label goods for a New York department store, and later for Galeries Lafayette in Paris. The name Castelbel remained hidden. In 2006, the Castelbel Ambiente series (Lavender, Rose, Verbena) was launched, and the success story began. A major contributor to this has been the wonderful home fragrances in magnificent glass diffusers, which are exported from Portugal all over the world. A year later, the exclusive Portus Cale series followed, which has found fans with its Portuguese product design here as well as in Dubai, South Africa, and Japan, and delights museum guests in the restrooms of the Louvre in Paris.
