Skin Gin Edition Blanc in white skin from Buxtehude
Skin Gin Edition Blanc is the handmade German Dry Gin from Skin Gin in its brightest version. The white skin was created for a practical reason, as it remains visible in the dim light of a bar. The gin inside is the same mild, minty-fresh variety found in all the skins.
Skin Gin Edition Blanc is the mild Dry Gin from Skin Gin in Buxtehude in the Altes Land, distilled from 7 individually distilled botanicals and bottled at 42 percent. The square 500-milliliter bottle features a white, leather-look paper skin, accompanied by copper anchors, lettering, and a cap. It is the brightest of all the editions.
White, so it stands out in bar lighting
Martin Birk Jensen designed the light-colored skin for a pragmatic reason: dark bottles disappear in the dim light of a bar.
The white stands out against the back bar, and the copper-colored embossing catches every ray of light from the ceiling. On the side, four small pennants are stacked on top of each other, inscribed with the words unique, extraordinary, and mindblowing. There it stands, calm, objective, unobtrusive.
When you place it on your shelf at home, the same thing happens as behind the bar: among dark bottles, the white one catches the eye first. And because each skin is wrapped by hand, no two are exactly alike. A work of art for your shelf, even long after the bottle is empty.
Juniper as the backbone, mint and citrus as companions
Lüneburg Heath juniper provides structure, Moroccan mint adds a cool touch, and lime, lemon, orange, and pink grapefruit bring juiciness to the glass.
Vietnamese coriander provides a calm spice base, ensuring the Blanc remains mild while still being recognizable as a Dry Gin. Those who usually reach for juniper-heavy spirits will find a lighter sister here. Pour 4 centiliters over large ice cubes, add 0.2 liters of dry Tonic Water, and add an orange zest.
A bottle meant for gifting
Because the white skin is pattern-free, it feels like a thoughtful gift right out of the box.
It is well-received for housewarmings, milestone birthdays, or as a gift for hosts who take their bar seriously. If you prefer to gift a bolder look, you can find the right one among the other Skin Gin skins, and those who want to browse the entire shelf can check out our selection of gin.
Seven distillates from the Altes Land
Each botanical travels individually into the spirit basket of an old copper still, operated by master distiller Arndt Wessel in the Altes Land.
There, spring water and alcohol swirl around each ingredient individually, allowing the essential oils to be almost completely extracted. Only afterwards are the distillates blended and reduced to 42 percent. The white skin then comes from a Bavarian family-run workshop, where hot-embossed paper is wrapped by hand around each bottle.
It all started in 2014 with a thought on vacation; in 2015, the first bottle hit the shelves. "It was meant to clearly stand out from all the many other gins on the market," says Martin about his ambition at the time. If you would like to encounter the beginning, you can find it in our spirits department right next to its bolder relatives.
