Kakuzo Earl Grey Vodka – the gentle essence

Kakuzo is a young spirits brand founded in Berlin in 2017 by two childhood friends, Paul Meinert and Marc Bergmann. Okakura Kakuzō, the master of tea, inspired the Berlin boys and is the congenial namesake of the brand. In his 1906 book "The Book of Tea," he explained the secrets of Japan to the Western world and skillfully linked Zen Buddhism, Taoism, and the art of tea preparation. In doing so, he established the connection between spiritual discipline and the resulting connection to nature, with an eye to the big picture.

True to the motto "Made by tea. Formed by time," the boys first developed a tea-infused vodka and thus began their success story in 2018. To do this, the two tasted more than 60 black teas at the Hamburg Tea Kontor and composed their own blend of Sencha from Japan, Keemun from China, and Assam from India. This opens up a rich world of flavors that is pleasantly spicy and slightly malty, with notes of honey and aromatic citrus fruits.
