Questions about Aranciata – Orange Soda?

We are happy to help you with Lurisia Limonade.

Lurisia Aranciata: juicy, bright, and straightforward

Aranciata is Italy’s classic orange soda. Lurisia’s version contains twenty percent orange juice and extract from oranges grown in Gargano, Puglia. Fruity and bright, with a delicate bitterness from the peel.

La Nostra Aranciata by Lurisia is the classic choice among Italian orange sodas. Twenty percent juice from Italian oranges gives it body, complemented by cane sugar, lemon juice, and the extract of an orange from Puglia. This single ingredient sets this 275-milliliter bottle apart from ordinary orange sodas.

Orange juice in a glass with a delicate bitterness

It appears a bright orange in the glass with fine sediment and smells of freshly sliced orange and a hint of peel.

The first sip is juicy and round; the sweetness remains restrained, underscored by the light bitterness imparted by the peel. Fruity, zesty, and unpretentious—it goes down easily without being sticky. The carbonation is fine and long-lasting, so the last sip tastes as good as the first. The lemonade gets its color from carrot and safflower extracts listed in the ingredients.

It is sweetened with cane sugar, and at 13.6 grams of sugar per 100 milliliters, it falls within the standard range for a lemonade. Yet it does not taste overly sweet because the acidity of the lemon juice and the bitterness from the peel balance it out. This is why a second glass never feels like too much.

Well-chilled for aperitivo and pizza

Served at 6 to 8 degrees Celsius, this Aranciata is the perfect soda for a long afternoon and for those at the table who prefer non-alcoholic options.

It pairs well with anything salty—from olives and pickles to sheet-pan pizza—because the fruit plays off the salt. Children enjoy it, and adults drink it too because there is enough complexity beneath the fruit. In a bar, it serves as a grateful mixer for gin or vermouth, anywhere a ready-made orange syrup might otherwise be used. A tall glass, plenty of ice, and a slice of orange on the rim are all it needs.

Alongside it is the Aranciata Rossa made from Sicilian blood oranges, which is darker and more berry-like, with a significantly higher juice content. The light version is for everyday; the red one is for Sundays.

The Gargano orange and its limestone soil

The extract for this lemonade comes from oranges grown in Puglia on the calcareous, marly soil of the Gargano peninsula.

The peninsula juts into the Adriatic like a green spur, and between the forest and the water, temperatures drop surprisingly far from day to night. It is precisely these fluctuations that make the fruit's aroma so dense that even a small amount carries through. The drink contains 0.06 percent orange extract, and yet you can taste it.

The water comes from Piedmont, from the spring at Roccaforte Mondovì, where Lurisia has been bottling since 1940. If anything settles in the bottle, it is the fruit content; a slow turn before opening distributes it again. You can find more varieties in the Lurisia assortment, and we also offer a wider selection of Italian sodas. Of them all, the Aranciata is the most straightforward.
