Olio Roi – Mosto Roi – Extra Virgin Olive Oil

The Mosto Roi, extra virgin olive oil from Olio Roi in Liguria, is a mild, fruity olive oil made from the Taggiasca, Ogliarola, and Biancolilla varieties. This blend of Ligurian olives is pale yellow with green reflections, and its aroma is reminiscent of dried olive leaves. Its taste initially reveals a gentle sweetness, an almond-like flavor, followed by notes of artichoke and fresh olive, which gives way to a slight pungency in the aftertaste. The 250ml bottle of Mosto Roi is Franco Roi's everyday olive oil.

Olio Roi – 5 Generations of Olive Oil

The history of the Roi family began in 1900, when Giuseppe, the great-grandfather "Pepin u Roi," built the first olive mill from wood and stone in our valley. This marked the beginning of a long journey that continues to the present day, with Paolo now dedicating all his time and passion to the family's olive mill alongside his father.

More than 100 years have passed since Giuseppe, yet the Taggiasca olive, its extra virgin olive oil, and the other culinary delicacies produced from it, such as pesto or table olives, still receive their full attention. The Taggiasca olive grows in the Argentina Valley on historic stone terraces, a cultural landscape that must be preserved. The current olive mill is state-of-the-art. This allows the Roi family to adapt the pressing and extraction of the oil to the ripeness of the Taggiasca olives, in order to preserve the fine, slightly sweet aromas of this small, almond-shaped olive variety and to maintain the highest quality of extra virgin olive oil.
