Questions about Ketchup made from French tomatoes?

We are happy to help you with Marcel Senchou.

Ketchup made from French tomatoes just like in childhood

Marcel Senchou’s French tomato ketchup is a classic tomato ketchup made from ripe, slowly simmered tomatoes – with no heat and no artificial additives. The honest tomato flavor you remember from childhood, vegan and gluten-free.

Ketchup made from French tomatoes is Marcel Senchou’s classic version: ripe French tomatoes with a 50 percent content, slowly simmered and rounded off with a little red bell pepper, onion, and spices. No fire, no tricks – just the full flavor of sun-ripened tomatoes. Seven ingredients, nothing else. What is inside is written on the front of the label – and you can taste what isn’t.

Full tomato flavor, mild and fruity

A rich red in the glass, and in the mouth, it’s primarily one thing: ripe tomato. Sweetness and acidity are perfectly balanced, accompanied by a subtle spice from bell pepper and onion, which rounds out the flavor without pushing to the front. Nothing masks the fruit here – fruity, savory, and natural.

This ketchup tastes like what it is: sun-ripened tomatoes, slowly simmered. Where some supermarket ketchups taste mainly of sugar and vinegar, here the tomato takes center stage. No thickening agents, no artificial sweetness that scratches the throat, but that honest classic you associate with a bag of fries at the kiosk and Sunday breakfast.

The ketchup for fries, burgers, and kids' plates

Fries, burgers, sausages, fish sticks – wherever ketchup belongs, this one cuts an impeccable figure. Because it is mild and not spicy, children love it too, and it fits on almost any plate. For many, this very gentle, classic flavor is the first ketchup they ever tasted.

It goes wonderfully with homemade oven fries and crispy croquettes, with scrambled eggs, or on a warm grilled cheese toast; it even loves to be stirred into a Bolognese or used as the fruity base for a quick curry sauce or barbecue sauce. If you prefer it fruity and spicy, reach for its sibling with Piment d'Espelette. You can find the full range from mild to fiery in our ketchup varieties. Once opened, it keeps in the refrigerator for many weeks.

Slowly simmered tomatoes from southwestern France

Marcel Senchou stands for ketchups, sauces, and spices from southwestern France, whose recipes have been passed down through generations – just as Marcel Senchou himself once started with fine fruit and vegetable preserves. The tomatoes ripen in the sunny south before being slowly simmered in kettles – "mijotées," as the French say – until they reveal their full flavor.

In the open kettles, excess water evaporates, and the flavors concentrate – time is the most important ingredient here, not concentrate from a drum.

The label features the original name, Senchou Pur Ketch'up Tomates Mijotées. The ketchup is 100 percent natural, with no colorings or preservatives, bottled in a 360 ml glass bottle made, according to the manufacturer, from 82 percent recycled glass. Produced by the Compagnie des Pyrénées, which has been cooking in Ariège at the foot of the Pyrenees for over 25 years – vegan and gluten-free. Anyone who values a short, clear ingredient list will be well served by this honest classic from France. Ketchup the way it should be.
