Dry Riesling from volcanic soil in Rheinhessen

The Steitz Riesling dry 2024 is a light organic white wine from the Steitz winery in Stein-Bockenheim, Rheinhessen, grown on volcanic soil. Fresh, mineral-forward, cool climate. Not a heavy Riesling, but a vibrant everyday companion with 91 points from Meininger.

Steitz Riesling dry 2024 is a fresh organic white wine from the Steitz winery in Rheinhessen, grown on volcanic soil consisting of andesite and porphyry. With only 11 percent alcohol, this Riesling is light and lively, mineral-forward, and refreshing. A cool-climate Riesling for every day that combines lightness with subtle depth.

Yellow apple, peach, and minerality

The Riesling presents itself in a pale yellow and unfolds a bouquet of yellow fruits such as apple and peach, complemented by fine nutty aromas. It is an open, friendly scent that hides nothing and immediately makes you crave that first fresh sip.

On the palate, it is zesty and mineral-forward, with clear fruit and lively acidity. Fresh, light, and mineral-forward—a Riesling that leaves you wanting another glass. Sip by sip, it remains refreshing without ever becoming heavy. You quickly realize that freshness and drinkability are the focus here.

Pairs with asparagus, fish, and summer cuisine

The dry Riesling accompanies light dishes, green asparagus, salads, and fish dishes, but also pairs well with pork rolls in a light sauce or boiled beef with kohlrabi vegetables. Its moderate acidity, in particular, makes it an uncomplicated food companion. You don't need a special occasion for it.

Serve it well chilled at 9 to 11 degrees in a white wine glass. It also finds its place on a cheese platter with mild semi-hard cheese. Those who would like to try more from the family should reach for the Pinot Blanc or the Pinot Gris from the Steitz winery.

Hand-harvested and stainless steel in Stein-Bockenheim

Stein-Bockenheim is located in western Rheinhessen, where the climate remains cooler than in the warm Rhine plain. The grapes grow on volcanic soil made of andesite and porphyry, protected by the Donnersberg mountain, and these soils give the Riesling its fine-tuned, mineral structure.

Hand-picked and aged in stainless steel tanks, the clear aroma of the grapes is preserved—the gentler the aging process, the fresher the wine. The winery manages its vineyards using certified organic and natural practices, with a focus on healthy soils. This creates a wine that draws its freshness from the soil and the cool climate.

Straightforward, unpretentious, and authentic, says Christian Steitz about his wines, and this estate wine shows how much enjoyment can be packed into a light Riesling. 91 points at Meininger’s Best of Riesling speak for themselves and for a strong price-to-enjoyment ratio. If you would like to discover more, you can find other organic wines from the Steitz winery with us.

A lightweight for long summer evenings

Nine to eleven degrees and a white wine glass are all this light Riesling needs to perform well. With its light 11 percent alcohol, it is a wonderful companion for long summer evenings, light cuisine, or simply enjoyed on the terrace. An opened bottle stays fresh for two days when well-chilled, in case you don't finish it first. A Riesling that proves good wine doesn't have to be heavy.
