Sparkling Tea 3-bottle set is the tasting package from the Copenhagen Sparkling Tea Company, featuring three 750-milliliter bottles. It contains the alcohol-free Blå, the citrusy Grøn, and the tart Rød. If you want to get to know this beverage category, this is the best place to start.

Three bottles, three characters

The three varieties in the set cover the company's full range: floral, citrusy, and savory.

The Blå is the most complex and is completely alcohol-free: 13 organic teas, led by jasmine, chamomile, and white tea, with grape juice instead of wine. Falstaff awarded it 92 out of 100 points.

The Grøn, with 5 percent alcohol, has a distinct green tea character sharpened by ginger and lemongrass – the perfect companion for sushi and Asian cuisine. And the Rød, also with 5 percent, is the driest of the three: hibiscus gives it a rosé hue and a tartness that pairs well with fish and beetroot.

This set is suitable for two occasions: for your own discovery and as a gift for people who are hard to surprise.

Anyone who has never had Sparkling Tea in their glass will tilt their head at the first sip – it’s neither sparkling wine nor iced tea nor lemonade, but something unique. That’s exactly why it works as a gift: it gives you something to talk about at the table.

Serve all three well chilled at about 5 degrees Celsius, preferably in a white wine glass rather than a narrow flute. And when you have guests over, some of whom may not drink alcohol, the Blå is a bottle you can offer so that no one is relegated to just a glass of water.

Should one variety be unavailable, we will replace it with another variety of Copenhagen Sparkling Tea – then perhaps the Lyserød or Lysegrøn will be in the package, and the evening certainly won't be any worse for it.

We've been there from the start

Jacob Kocemba and Bo Sten Hansen sold their first bottle on May 26, 2017 – we discovered them in the summer of that same year.

What convinced us back then was the complexity in the glass and the fineness of the effervescence, and that hasn't changed to this day. We have been sourcing the sparkling teas directly from Copenhagen ever since, practically from hour zero.

Back then, it was a gamble. A drink for which there was no category, no shelf space, and no customers asking for it – you had to pour it into people's glasses for them to understand what it was all about. Now, they ask for it on their own.

The whole thing started out of a predicament, much like the one Jacob Kocemba experienced as a sommelier in 2010: he stood before a cellar with over 1,700 wines and still couldn't find anything suitable for a dessert. So, he brewed a tea extract. That one night turned into a beverage category that hadn't existed before.

Today, over 100 Michelin-starred establishments in more than 50 countries serve these teas. The set remains the obvious starting point – three bottles, one evening, and afterwards you’ll know which variety is yours.
