Extra Hot Dijon Mustard – Moutarde from France

The extra hot Dijon mustard from Delouis Fils is a classic when it comes to French mustard. Mustard production has a centuries-old tradition in Europe, and especially in France. The small, rather mild, nutty mustard seeds only develop their pungency when ground with the addition of liquid. The mustard seeds are soaked for two hours before being crushed and combined with the company's own vinegar to become Moutarde de Dijon. This process allows a flavorful mustard to mature, guarantees sophistication, and ultimately results in a tasteful, delicate mustard, without any additives and free of preservatives.

What can you use extra hot Dijon mustard for in the kitchen?

The extra hot French Dijon mustard adds a spicy note to meat, cold cuts, and grilled sausages. The hot mustard refines salads and goes wonderfully with aged cheese or for rubbing roasts. This mustard is simply indispensable for a perfect vinaigrette (one teaspoon of mustard, one tablespoon of vinegar, three tablespoons of oil, salt, and freshly ground pepper), as well as for marinades and for seasoning sauces like hollandaise or classic mayonnaise. Connoisseurs appreciate it simply as a spread on bread.

Delouis Fils – Mustard from France

As early as 1885, Georges Delouis and his family acquired a vinegar factory in Limoges and from then on dedicated themselves to the production of high-quality vinegars. In 1940, his son Pierre Delouis took over the management of the award-winning company, and after his departure, his son Philippe, thus truly living up to the name Delouis Fils - Delouis and Sons. Philippe thought that whoever successfully produces vinegar could also produce mustard and mayonnaise, and so in 1976 he founded a mustard factory in Champsac, a small municipality in the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park in France, not far from Limoges.

Here in a rural setting, the company Delouis Fils S.A. has since produced mustard with promising success. Driven by this, Philippe Delouis expanded his production with several new product lines such as salad dressings and sauces. Today, 55 employees work in the manufactory and, with special care and great skill, produce mustard and sauces from raw materials of the best quality. In 2004, Philippe Delouis decided to pass on his company to Gaël Brabant, who has been leading the Delouis Family since 2007.

Delouis
