Creamy Orléans Mustard – Mustard by Martin-Pouret

The Creamy Orléans Mustard is a creamy mustard from Martin-Pouret in Orléans, France. This delicious mustard is made according to the traditional methods of the mustard manufacturer. French mustard seeds from the Loire Valley are ground in a stone mill and blended with salt from Guérande, a little turmeric for color, and homemade Orléans vinegar to create this wonderfully creamy Creamy Orléans Mustard. But before this mustard can release its full aroma, it must first mature. This is how Martin-Pouret's mustard factory produces mustard, just as it was made hundreds of years ago.

This mustard is a classic when it comes to French mustard, to mustard from Orléans. The nutty, yellow and brown mustard seeds, when ground and mashed with water and vinegar, develop the typical mustard oils that tickle our nose and give mustard its special taste.

French mustard is a versatile seasoning paste; it tastes great with cold cuts, cold meat, bratwurst, smoked fish, or cheese. Mustard is an essential ingredient in any classic mayonnaise and an indispensable component of a good vinaigrette. You can spread it on roulades, rub it on large roasts, or make a sauce for mustard eggs, because it is simply delicious. Here in a 200g jar.

Orléans Mustard – French Mustard

Orléans was once the stronghold of vinegar production in France; even the king acknowledged the special quality of Orléans vinegar in a decree in 1590. However, of the 300 vinegar manufacturers, only one remains: Maison Martin Pouret. Since 1797, they have been producing high-quality vinegar in the traditional way, which is still allowed to mature in wooden barrels. In addition to vinegar, the company also produces vinegar preserves, such as gherkins pickled in vinegar, or Moutarde, French mustard.

In addition to the quality of the mustard seeds, the quality of the vinegar is crucial for the taste of the mustard. No wonder, then, that Creamy Orléans Mustard, the mustard from Martin-Pouret, tastes so wonderful.

The unmistakable character and the unique, full-bodied taste of Orléans mustard are based on a traditional recipe handed down from the 18th century, the over 200 years of proven know-how of the Maître Vinaigrier, the selection of the best ingredients, and the commitment of the new owners David Matheron and Paul-Olivier Claudepierre, who took over the vinegar house in 2019 and proudly look back on a unique heritage, the tradition of the great vinegar masters, which they are now allowed to continue.
