The Cornichons with Chili from Martin-Pouret are spicy pickles with Bird's Eye chili from Orléans, France. These French gherkins are grown in the Loire Valley. Extra fresh, they are immediately pickled after harvest in Orléans vinegar made in-house. They are crunchy and not only delightfully sour, marinated with the finest white wine vinegar, but also seasoned with white onions, salt from Guérande, spices like Val de Loire mustard seeds and hot Bird's Eye chili, as well as herbs, coriander, and tarragon.

The Cornichons with Chili, French gherkins, are versatile. You can serve these pickles with hearty dishes, game or poultry pâtés, roast beef, or cold cut and cheese platters. They go well with potato salad, meatballs, fried potatoes, or head cheese. You can make remoulade with them, or put them on hotdogs or burgers. For anyone who likes it spicy. Here in a 270g jar.

French Pickles – Cornichons with Bird's Eye Chili

Once, the city of Orléans was the stronghold of vinegar production in France; even the king recognized the special quality of Orléans vinegar in a decree in 1590, but of the 300 vinegar manufacturers, only one remains: Maison Martin Pouret. Since 1797, they have been producing high-quality vinegar in the traditional way, which is still allowed to mature in wooden barrels. In addition to vinegar, the company also produces preserved foods, such as cornichons pickled in vinegar, and moutarde, French mustard.

Besides the quality of the gherkins, the quality of the vinegar is crucial for the taste of the pickles. It's no wonder, then, that the Cornichons with Chili pickled in Martin-Pouret's Orléans vinegar taste so wonderful.

The unmistakable character and unique, full-bodied taste of Orléans mustard are based on a traditional recipe handed down from the 18th century, over 200 years of proven expertise from the Maître Vinaigrier, the selection of the best ingredients, as well as the commitment of the new owners David Matheron and Paul-Olivier Claudepierre, who took over the vinegar house in 2019 and proudly look back on a unique heritage, the tradition of the great vinegar masters, which they are now allowed to continue.
