Mistelzweig Praline Box 240g by Sawade for Large Gatherings
The Mistelzweig Praline Box 240g by Sawade is the house's grand winter selection, featuring twenty pieces in five varieties beneath golden branches on a deep red background. Leading the collection is the Königin Luise, which won silver at the International Chocolate Awards.
Mistelzweig Praline Box 240g is the grand Advent selection from Sawade in Berlin-Reinickendorf, consisting of twenty individually coated pieces across five varieties. Because none of the fillings contain alcohol, the box can be shared with children on holidays without anyone needing to ask beforehand.
Silver for the Königin Luise Praline
The Königin Luise is named after the Prussian queen and won silver at the 2019 International Chocolate Awards in the dark gianduja praline category. It is the piece that gets picked first from this selection, and the reason why lies beneath its dark shell.
When biting into it, a sequence unfolds: first the soft brittle with its roasted notes, then the nougat, and finally the premium marzipan, which brings the bite to a soft finish. It is therefore included in almost every Sawade selection, while the other four varieties each focus on a single flavor profile.
The butter truffle remains soft and dark, the Bourbon vanilla truffle light and rounded, the pistachio nougat includes the whole nut, and the Lukullische crunches softly beneath its sugar coating. Twenty pieces are enough for a round that goes around twice, and "Berlin format" here means that none of them are miniaturized.
Three chocolates under one lid
Dark, milk, and white chocolate share this selection, and each shell is matched to its filling. The dark couverture, the confectioners' coating chocolate, balances the nougat and marzipan with at least 60 percent cocoa, tempering their sweetness.
The milk chocolate takes a backseat where hazelnut and brittle are already sweet, and the white chocolate maintains the light truffle's own character. As a result, every praline tastes of its filling rather than its shell.
To ensure the shell snaps cleanly when bitten, the couverture is tempered beforehand. It is carefully heated, cooled, and reheated until the cocoa butter has crystallized perfectly. Afterward, Sawade dips each praline individually and adds the decorative finish by hand.
Real Bourbon vanilla and a pinch of salt define Sawade's light fillings, while butter and cream support the truffle centers. The depth of this box comes from roasted nougat and cooked brittle, not from spirits.
On the holiday between coffee pot and armchair
On holidays, this selection travels between the coffee pot and the armchairs, explaining itself without the need for announcements or lists of varieties. It is flat enough for a crowded coffee table, and those who take a second piece usually already have their eye on a third.
Keep it away from heaters and the refrigerator, and store it between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius. This way, it will last throughout the entire Advent season without any dull spots appearing on the chocolate. Once opened, it should be consumed within two to three weeks, as the filling loses its melt-in-the-mouth quality afterward.
For a small gift, the same motif is available in the Mistelzweig Round Tin, while the Musikanten Praline Box offers a more colorful option. The Berlin assortment can be found at Sawade Berlin, and all festive items in our Christmas selection.
