Dry Aged – Red Wine from Winery Metzger
The Weingut Metzger Dry Aged 2019 is a dry, powerful red wine cuvée from the Palatinate. A cuvée in the French style, but with its own Palatinate character! All participants give their best, including the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, and winemakers Lea and Uli Metzger, of course. Aged for two long years in the best French barriques, this wine matured into something very special: a fillet piece from the Metzger house.
It has been clear since 2014, at the latest, that Uli Metzger understands red wine when he stood on the winner's podium at the German Red Wine Award with two red wines: Arthos and Dry Aged. The deep, almost black color immediately catches the eye and then continues its flavor in the mouth. An abundance of red berry fruits, tobacco, and a hint of bell pepper perfectly complement its almost ethereal side and delight with every sip! It rages powerfully on the palate. A mature bull, muscular, with strong tannins and staying power.
The Weingut Metzger Dry Aged belongs to the "Fillet" quality category and is thus one of the top growths from Weingut Metzger, originating from the best sites with the oldest vines. Selective manual harvesting results in low yields.

Weingut Metzger – Family Tradition
Uli Metzger took over his parents' business, Weingut Metzger in Asselheim near Grünstadt in the Palatinate, in 2010. The Metzger family has been cultivating wine in the North Palatinate for over 100 years. Nearly 20 hectares of vineyards in good and very good locations with distinct limestone soils are now managed by Uli and Karin and their daughters Lea and Nane. Their labels feature a striking cattle and sometimes a flying pig, an unmistakable trademark.
To make it easier for customers to find the right wine for them, the quality levels of estate wine, village and single-vineyard wine were also named with terms such as flank, pastor's piece, and fillet, i.e., butcher's technical terms. This makes it easy to navigate the Weingut Metzger product range.
In 2014, Uli Metzger caused a sensation by winning 1st place at the German Red Wine Award in the Pinot Noir category with Arthos and simultaneously 2nd place in the Cuvées category with Dry Age. Since then, top ratings and awards have poured in. Mundus Vini, Gault Millau, Vinum, Der Feinschmecker – no one can ignore the wines from Weingut Metzger anymore. Neither can we.
