Weingut Pflüger – Sauvignon Blanc Quarzite
The Weingut Pflüger Sauvignon Blanc Quarzite 2024 is a white wine from Bad Dürkheim in the Palatinate region. This organic wine is characterized by its cool minerality and aromas of white currants, green gooseberries, juicy peach, and exotic passion fruit. The quartzite soil contributes a salty minerality to this wonderfully fresh and fabulously light Sauvignon Blanc with a medium body, good acidity, and moderate alcohol content.
The Weingut Pflüger Sauvignon Blanc Quarzite is dry and boasts a good acid structure. It pairs well with a wide variety of dishes and leaves a lasting impression. Its mineral, invigorating character makes it a perfect companion for Asian vegetable cuisine as well as light dishes with fish and shellfish.
Weingut Pflüger – Wine Production
Wine from partially purchased grapes, aged and bottled at Weingut Pflüger. The vines for this Sauvignon Blanc from Weingut Pflüger grow in organically cultivated vineyards in the municipalities of Bad Dürkheim and Friedelsheim. What they all have in common is the light gravel soil and the quartzite stone soil in the subsoil, which imparts a fine salty minerality to the wine. To harvest ripe grapes in autumn, winemaker Alexander Pflüger has been working according to biodynamic principles since 2008, refraining from artificial fertilizers, as well as herbicides and insecticides, following the course of the seasons and the moon, and working as close to nature as possible. Weingut Pflüger is Demeter certified.
The harvesting of the Sauvignon Blanc grapes often takes place in several picking passes. In the winery's press house, located opposite the saline in Bad Dürkheim, the grapes are gently processed. The mash is pressed with gentle pressure and the must is spontaneously fermented. The reductive aging in stainless steel tanks results in a typical, aromatic Sauvignon Blanc.
