Organic Pinot Blanc from Quartzite in the Palatinate
The 2025 Quartzite Pinot Blanc from Weingut Pflüger is a dry organic white wine from the Palatinate. Juicy, creamy, with a salty minerality. A fruit-forward vintage that retains all its freshness in the steel tank.
2025 Quartzite Pinot Blanc from Weingut Pflüger matures on the quartzite soil of the Palatinate, which gives it a fine, salty minerality. This organic Pinot Blanc exhibits an elegant creaminess with a substantial, finely woven body, good acidity balance, juicy fruit, and 13% vol.
Juicy pear, white blossoms, tropical mango
On the nose, the Quartzite Pinot Blanc unfolds notes of juicy pear, white blossoms, and tropical mango, carried by the cool minerality of the Palatinate. A bright, fruity bouquet.
On the palate, it is substantial yet refined, with an elegant creaminess and good acidity balance. Juicy, floral, and mineral—it remains present and lingering in the memory without ever becoming heavy. A Pinot that brings fruit and freshness into alignment.
Pairs wonderfully with chicken and vegetables
The Quartzite Pinot Blanc pairs well with a wide variety of dishes and remains memorable. Its delicate aromas make it a fine companion for light cuisine.
Enjoy it well-chilled at 10 to 12 degrees with vegetarian vegetable dishes, roasted chicken, or tender pork tenderloin. Its juicy fruit softly complements mild sauces and creamy side dishes. It is also a fine companion for risotto with young vegetables, baked pumpkin, or mild soft cheese, supporting the meal rather than overshadowing it. Thus, this Pinot Blanc always finds its place on a quiet evening. For those who prefer something animating and mineral, try the Palatinate Riesling from Bunter Sandstone.
Quartzite, lees aging, and steel tank
The vines for this Pinot Blanc, partly from Weingut Pflüger and partly from fellow organic vintners, grow in organically cultivated vineyards in the Mittelhaardt, in Bad Dürkheim and Friedelsheim. The quartzite in the subsoil provides the fine, salty minerality.
Since the 2008 vintage, Alexander Pflüger has been working biodynamically, eschewing artificial fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides, and following the course of the seasons and the moon, just as Alexander has done year after year—the winery is Demeter-certified. In the winery building opposite the salt works in Bad Dürkheim, the grapes are gently pressed and the must is fermented spontaneously.
The wine remains on the lees for a long time and matures in stainless steel tanks, which allows it to show its fruitiness at its best. The longer it rests on the fine lees, the creamier the Pinot becomes on the palate, while the cool steel tank preserves its juicy fruit and freshness. This results in a fruit-forward Pinot Blanc that strikes a good balance between the creaminess of the variety and the clarity of the quartzite.
Not too small a glass for pear and mango
Serve it well-chilled at 10 to 12 degrees in a glass that isn't too small, and the pear and mango will reveal themselves most beautifully. Once opened, it stays fresh for two to three days if kept cool. You can find more organic Palatinate wines under our white wines, and the entire assortment at Weingut Pflüger. A juicy Pinot full of fruit.
