Jam gift set from Alpe Pragas with three South Tyrolean fruit spreads
The Alpe Pragas jam gift set is a preserve gift collection of three 335-gram jars, filled with apricot, strawberry, and wild berry. The three varieties are stacked one above the other in a slim dark red box, behind a tall viewing window and under a wide satin ribbon.
The jam gift set is a ready-packaged gift collection from the South Tyrolean fruit manufacturer Alpe Pragas, which we assemble from three 335-gram jars: apricot, strawberry, and wild berry—labeled as Alba, Fragola, and Boscus. Each of the three jars contains 75 percent fruit, thickened with apple pectin and a touch of lemon juice.
Golden, strawberry-red, and berry-dark behind the viewing window
Even through the tall window of the box, the three jars show what sets them apart: bright apricot gold, deep strawberry red, and an almost black berry violet.
The apricot brings that slightly tart freshness only sun-ripened apricots possess, ensuring it is never too sweet. The strawberry is the round, warm one of the three. The wild berry blends blueberry, raspberry, and both red and black currant into a dark, multi-layered tone where no single berry dominates.
For housewarmings, Mother's Day, and the Sunday table
The set arrives ready-packaged and requires neither extra paper nor a ribbon to be given as a gift.
The tall, slim box can be handed over with one hand and stands upright, making the three colors instantly eye-catching. The next morning, the jars head to the breakfast table, where three open varieties side-by-side make more of an impression than a single jar.
About one kilogram of fruit enters the home at once, enough for many Sundays and a whole group at the table. We have found the set to be a reliable gift for a long breakfast at a friend's house, as well as for a housewarming, where a stocked pantry corner is worth more than flowers. For Mother's Day, the box usually lands unopened directly on the set table.
More fruit than any jam regulation requires
Since June 2026, a "Konfitüre" (jam) must contain at least 450 grams of fruit per kilogram, and a "Konfitüre extra" must contain 500 grams.
The three jars in this set far exceed this with 750 grams per kilogram, yet their labels read "Fruchtaufstrich" (fruit spread). The reason is the sugar content: A "Konfitüre" requires more than 55 percent total sugar, and that much does not go into the jars at Alpe Pragas. In this case, less sugar simply means a different name on the label.
Boiled under vacuum at 70 degrees
All three varieties are cooked for just a few minutes at 70 degrees under a vacuum, rather than bubbling in an open kettle.
Under vacuum, the fruit simmers at a lower temperature, which is exactly what preserves the color and fragrance in the jar. This is why the strawberry glows red instead of brownish, and the apricot smells like fresh apricots instead of stewed fruit upon opening. Nothing more than fruit, sugar, lemon juice, and apple pectin is needed for this.
Should one of the three varieties be unavailable, we will include an equivalent one from the Alpe Pragas fruit spread range. The three also stand well on their own: golden apricot, red strawberry, and dark wild berry. Three colors, one breakfast.
