Grassy-fresh Sauvignon Blanc savvy from the Nahe

The 2025 Sauvignon Blanc savvy from Anette Closheim is a dry, fragrant white wine from the Nahe. Grassy freshness, crackling fruit—a wine for those who like it clear and cool.

Sauvignon Blanc is the grape variety, and Anette Closheim calls her 2025 vintage "savvy," a dry white wine from the Nahe with green aromatics. Gooseberry, cassis, grapefruit, and kiwi characterize the nose and palate, complemented by a cool minerality from the loam and loess soils. With 12% ABV, the wine remains crisp, fresh, and invigorating, just the way Anette loves it. A wine that wakes up the senses and creates a desire for the next sip.

"Savvy" stands for clever and witty, and that is exactly how this white wine presents itself. Anette runs her winery in Langenlonsheim in the fourth generation and has been crafting clear, modern wines from the Nahe since 2008. The fact that this "diva" grape variety succeeds so well here is anything but a given and makes the savvy a rarity that is seldom found in the Nahe region.

Gooseberry, kiwi, and a green note

On the nose, there are notes of gooseberry, cassis, and kiwi, accompanied by elderflower and a fresh, grassy trait that immediately brings to mind a cool spring morning, fresh and crystal clear at the start.

On the palate, the savvy is crisp, fresh, mineral, and dry, with a lively acidity of 7.0 g/l. Crackling fruitiness and cool clarity; it glides across the tongue in an invigorating way and remains present for a long time without ever becoming broad. This exact tension is what makes this white wine so appealing.

Early harvesting and reductive aging keep the aromatics clear and green. This creates a vibrant white wine that displays its origins from the Nahe in every sip. "Dry" here means crisp and clear, never harsh.

The fresh companion for fish and vegetables

A dry Sauvignon Blanc like this is made for light cuisine: fish, seafood, asparagus, goat cheese, or green salads. It brings both freshness and spice, enlivening any light dish.

It plays out its freshness with prawns and ginger, pan-seared fish, or goat cheese with leaf salad, served well-chilled at 10 to 12 degrees. If you prefer something rounder, try the dry Cuvée Blanc, or the classic Riesling mit Freunden.

A diva that feels at home in the Nahe

Sauvignon Blanc is a bit of a diva—demanding regarding soil and site, and still rarely found in the Nahe, which makes it all the more beautiful that it thrives so well here.

After eight hours of skin contact, Anette ferments the grapes under temperature-controlled conditions in stainless steel and ages them reductively, protected from oxygen. This keeps the grape variety’s intense aromatics fresh and clear. An effort that can be tasted in every sip, as Anette emphasizes. Once you have tried the savvy, you understand it immediately.

Three stars in Vinum and Eichelmann, three Fs in Feinschmecker—the winery collects recognition as a matter of course. You can find more from the Nahe among all wines by Anette Closheim. Pure, grassy drinking pleasure.
