Bordier – Brittany Barrel Butter with Yuzu

Bordier Barrel Butter with Yuzu is a mildly fermented butter from Brittany in northwestern France. The yuzu creates a harmonious blend with the salted Bordier butter, turning bread with strawberry jam into a new taste experience, and it also pairs well with fish dishes.

The citrus fruit yuzu originally comes from East Asia and is a cross between a wild mandarin and a lemon. It looks like a small grapefruit and grows wild in central China and Tibet, in Korea and Japan. The taste is similar to a grapefruit with a hint of mandarin.

Maitre Bordier – Traditional Butter Making

Bordier butter is still traditionally shaped by hand today and is considered a very fine delicacy not only in France, and rightly so, we believe.

As the son of a cheesemaker, Jean-Yves Bordier creates butter of extraordinary quality. He is one of the last artisans who still knead his butter in traditional wooden molds. As is the tradition in Brittany, the butter is salted not with coarse but with fine salt. This allows the full quality of the cream to unfold.
