Fesey Chocolate Easter Bunny in Chimney Red

The Fesey chocolate Easter bunny in chimney red features deep red foil over milk chocolate with at least 37 percent cocoa, wrapped by hand rather than by machine. The red has a cherry-like undertone, making it appear darker in an Easter basket than any other shade of red.

The chimney red chocolate Easter bunny is a 90-gram hollow figure from the Fesey chocolate workshop in Riemerling, located on the southeastern edge of Munich. The bunnies are created there using nostalgic, two-part molds that have been carefully maintained and used for decades.

Chimney red is a dark, cool-toned hue with great depth, appearing significantly more tranquil than the signal red of Christmas figures. Against green or ice blue, this bunny looks almost ceremonial, which is why it sits better on a set Easter table than in a child's basket.

A red with the seriousness of a cherry

In the shade, the foil looks almost black-red; in sunlight, it shifts to a glossy wine red. No other color among these chocolate figures offers this range, making it a calm centerpiece amidst painted eggs and yellow daffodils. On white porcelain, the tone appears even deeper; on light linen, its cool, bluish undertone stands out more clearly.

The silhouette remains understated. The bunny sits on its hind legs, head raised, with its ears laid horizontally against its back, where they taper off into the long spinal groove. Fur, cheeks, and eyes are defined solely by the molding, as there is not a single letter printed on the foil. For those who prefer this red in a smaller size, it is also available as a 30-gram chimney red chocolate heart.

Two mold halves and liquid chocolate

Fesey pours the milk chocolate into a tool consisting of two halves, which strong magnets press together until not a drop escapes. The bunny is created as a hollow shell, with a seam that is barely visible at the end. The pressure of the magnets determines whether the two halves join together seamlessly or if a visible edge remains.

Only after the chocolate has cooled does a hand lift the figure from the mold and prepare it for wrapping.

This very construction method accounts for the "bite." The wall remains thin enough to give way under light pressure, and cocoa butter is listed before cocoa mass in the ingredients. This results in a mild, quick-melting milk chocolate flavor that finishes without any bitterness. This is how all the chocolatier’s figures are made, from flat angels to sitting bears.

Why red also works in spring

Many consider red a color for December, but in an Easter basket, it has a completely different effect. Amidst moss, grass, and dyed eggs, the chimney-red bunny provides the only dark point that catches the eye. It requires neither a ribbon nor a print to do so—it only needs its place among brighter neighbors.

For the Easter Sunday table, a single bunny per place setting is sufficient; for a basket, two in different tones work well. Two candles and a few branches are all it takes to create a focal point for the center of the table. Store it in a cool, dark place until then, and the dark foil will retain its luster.

Our Easter collection features lambs and larger bunnies for this purpose, and the chocolate figures from Riemerling are available throughout the year. If you prefer chocolate bars, you will find what you are looking for in our chocolate department.

Fesey

Fesey stellt südöstlich von München seit 1933 nichts als Figuren aus Schokolade her, gegossen in zweiteilige nostalgische Formen und einzeln mit der Hand in Stanniol geschlagen.
