The silver chocolate Santa Claus is a 125-gram hollow-cast figure, hand-wrapped in silver tinfoil by Fesey Schokoladenfiguren in Riemerling near Munich. The paper lies so smoothly against the chocolate that it reflects light like a polished pitcher.

On a table set with white linen, silver is part of the cutlery, the candlesticks, and the bowls. The Santa Claus fits right in, as if someone had added another piece to the table setting. If you want to decorate many place settings, it is better to distribute the 70-gram silver Santa Claus at each plate.

Bright silver next to frost and candlelight

The tinfoil bears a clear white-metal hue with a hard, cold sheen. Next to blue winter light in the late afternoon, the figure looks almost like hoarfrost on a windowsill. As soon as the candles are lit in the evening, the cool tone shifts to a warmer hue and reflects the small flames.

Because there is no printing, the embossing tells the whole story, and it stands out particularly clearly in this color. Every fold in the coat casts its own shadow, the beard lies in deep strands down to the chest, and the sack pulls the shoulder into its characteristic tilt.

Fesey pours the liquid mass into the closed mold and then places it on a spinning machine—a carousel that tilts the mold in several directions at once. It rotates there until the chocolate is distributed at an even thickness along every inner wall and into every crevice.

This results in the thin, uniform wall that you can clearly hear when you break it open. It then slowly solidifies and develops its shine. Only afterwards does a hand take the tinfoil and wrap it, fold by fold, around the hood, beard, and sack.

If you want to share the Santa Claus at the end of the evening, lay him on his back on the table and press down with your thumb. The wrapping remains intact, and the pieces can be taken out of the paper individually without needing a knife.

Mild whole milk chocolate for afternoon tea

Behind sugar and cocoa butter, whole milk powder appears in the ingredients list before the cocoa mass, and that is precisely where the light, milky tone of this Santa Claus comes from. The thin wall quickly softens at room temperature and melts in the mouth instead of shattering.
