Green Chocolate Little Man is one of the flat relief figures cast by Fesey Chocolate Figures in Riemerling, Upper Bavaria. At 20 grams, it weighs barely more than a cookie, making it the perfect size to fit into an advent calendar door without bulging the cardboard.

The green is a bright, slightly yellowish leaf green with a high gloss, having little to do with dark pine green. Among red baubles and white lights, it looks fresh rather than kitschy, and next to cinnamon stars on a plate, it looks almost like royal icing.

Outstretched arms and three embossed buttons

The figure stretches both arms out to the side and stands with its short legs slightly apart, as if it had just come off the baking sheet. Below the chin, the laughing mouth is a deep notch; above it are two dot eyes, and three buttons run down the center of the chest. The hands end without fingers, the feet without soles, and this very restraint is what makes the figure so recognizable.

Because everything is embossed, the image shifts every time you tilt your hand. In flat light, the mouth and buttons stand out sharply; under a ceiling lamp, they blur into a shimmer. The little men also come in ice blue and pink from the same mold, and the color alone dictates the mood.
