Raritas Egg Liqueur with Orange Spirit from Lantenhammer is an egg liqueur without cream, whose creaminess comes solely from fresh egg yolk. It is refined with orange spirit made from Sicilian fruits, produced at the Tegernsee castle distillery in batches of 200 liters.

Raritas Egg Liqueur with Orange Spirit is the best-selling liqueur from the Raritas line of the Lantenhammer distillery at Lake Schliersee, a premium egg liqueur with 20 percent alcohol in a 500 ml bottle. At the Meininger's International Spirits Award 2024, it was the best distillate in the entire competition and went home as both Spirit of the Year and Egg Liqueur of the Year.

The color alone reveals what this liqueur is made of, as it glows in the glass with a rich egg-yolk yellow that can only come from plenty of fresh egg yolk. While other manufacturers work with cream, Raritas uses only fresh egg yolk in its base, which is exactly where its dense, velvety texture comes from.

The liqueur draws its fruitiness from a custom orange spirit, for which Sicilian oranges are distilled. A "Geist" (spirit) contains no fruit pulp and no sweetness, only the aroma of the peel, which is why the orange here tastes bright and clear rather than like marmalade.

The liqueur is produced at the Tegernsee castle distillery, where the historic Lantenhammer stills are located. Distiller Christina Kölbl develops the Raritas line there and produces only 200 liters at a time, because a small batch is easier to manage than a large one.

On the label sits the Wolpertinger, that shy mythical creature of Bavarian folklore, which is about as rare to encounter in the forest as a truly good bottle of egg liqueur. A wink of an eye that suits a house that makes its best things in small quantities.
